Heritage Consultant

Miriam has spent most of her professional career in architecture and design as well as conservation and historic buildings, in both the UK and overseas public and private sectors.

From 1989 to 1997 she worked as a design architect in various London practices, before collaborating with Heritage Architecture on various projects; she joined the practice permanently soon after and stayed for 11 years, becoming a Senior Associate responsible for the managing and expansion of the London office. Miriam became an independent heritage consultant in 2012 and has worked as such ever since.

Her expertise spans a wide range of services, from providing heritage advice and preparing heritage documents for planning submissions for public- and private-sector clients to negotiating with local authorities and Historic England Heritage, as well as producing schedules of significance, visual impact assessments, architectural drawings and feasibility studies.

Miriam is an affiliate member of the IHBC as well as member of DOCOMOMO UK.

Miriam’s practical experience of undertaking archival research, recording buildings and site surveying facilitates the detailed assessment and interpretation of historic buildings and areas. Her skills in the analysis and assessment of historic buildings and areas, alongside her ability to liaise closely with clients and other key stakeholders, often enable issues with the historic environment to be resolved as early as the pre-application stage.
